Chinese New Year 2006

A new Chinese year began on 29th January 2006. One way that the Chinese name their years is by animal; this is the year of the dog.

Tasting prawn crackers the Chinese way - with chopsticks, right?! Our nursery children practising with chopsticks! We even ate our morning snack with chopsticks!

Our nursery school children have had great fun exploring new foods - and new ways of eating them too!

Eating our morning snack Dressing up Our Chinese writing

The topic spread throughout our daily routine with dressing up, eating, writing and, oh yes, playing!

Making our nursery school's Chinese Dragon Moorland Nursery School's Chinese dragon Our Chinese Dog (what, you think it looks like a dragon?!)

Yes, we know it's the year of the Dog but with dinosaurs around the corner we simply had to make a dragon! This spectacular creature is a mighty 7 foot long. The scales are made from children's handprints cut from red and gold foil. In case you are wondering, yes, it took a while to do!

TC Club and our Tigers participated by making decorations. Our 2-3 year olds made this dragon (with a little help from TC Club)! Our out of school club children made scrolls and envelopes.
